Extra Curricular Activities

At Bright Kids we are always looking at new ways to develop learning and practical life skills for the children and we are aware of the fact that there might be external agencies, teachers or qualified professionals who can complement our teaching methods and support us in developing the children, for this reason we have a number of different programs that we have on offer at various stages throughout the year across our different settings, some of these consist of:
Key Sports and coaching
Key Sports offer a variety of different sporting skills to be taught to the children by qualified and CRB cleared professionals. We have a regular trainer who comes to the setting, building bonds and relationships with the children and staff alike. Some of the skills taught by Key Sports are Football, Tennis, Gymnastics and Dancing. These activities help with the physical development of individual children, looking at hand-eye co-ordination and balance as well as developing  personal, social and emotional skills by giving the children a sense of determination, a feeling of success and personal achievement and also by starting to develop an understanding of competition thus preparing them for later life. All of our children who have taken part in our Key Skills programs have shown a faster development rate in their Physical development but also in their concentration levels and their fine motor skills aiding them in their handwriting developments too.

Yoga Bugs
Yoga bugs offers a fun learning opportunity for children to start to develop their relaxation and exercise routines into one. In Just one short 20 minute session it can help to calm a group of children and refresh them helping them to regain focus. Children accessing this program have shown much calmer approaches to sometimes stressful and conflicting situations in the eyes of a 3 year old.

Language Skills
With our communities and society in general becoming a lot more diverse having a basic understanding and acknowledgement for other languages has never been so important. For this reason we take opportunities to help to support and develop language skills at a young age, looking firstly at the languages spoken within our settings and bringing our parent partnership into place here. Children at a young age have the ability to absorb such a greater amount of information than we often give them credit for and can learn at an astonishing rate. We have witnessed so many times children that access our settings speaking 2, 3 and sometimes even 4 languages before they leave to go to school, and even finding children that speak different languages, but that are similar, doing a much better job at communicating than we do ourselves as adults.
